AFVi Asks About...Air Quality & Alternative Fuels: How Alternative Fuels Helped Clean Up Las Vegas
AFVi had the opportunity to ask Dennis Ransel, Manager of the Air Quality Planning Division for the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management (DAQEM) and Las Vegas Regional Clean Cities Coalition member, about the relationship between air quality and alternative fuels. He outlines Las Vegas history with utilizing alternative fuels, particularly natural gas, to reduce emissions and meet air quality standards with regards to carbon monoxide. Las Vegas has beaten that problem only to face a new challenge -- ozone. Again, the DAQEM is looking to alternative fuels to play a role in the reduction of emissions which contribute to ozone issues.
