Animation of Solar Hot Water Heating System

This animation illustrates the basics of a solar hot water heating system. Sunlight hits the panels, heat is transferred through the glycol pipes to the tanks to heat the water that is sent to the building. The tanks are heated consecutively to 140 degrees, if there is still sunlight after 140 degrees the tanks are heated further. A tempering valve is located just after the gas heaters to ensure scalding water is not sent to the building. If the tanks get cold, a dual system gas heater warms the water.
