Updated video from last summer that shows how much estimated power is being generated while walking and running. Depending upon whether the wearer is walking downhill or up, running or walking, jumping, etc. the power harvesting can range from 3 to 60W!
Bionic Power Inc. is developing a wearable, kinetic energy harvester. The light-weight PowerWalk® harvester is designed to generate electricity from the natural action of walking, in much the same way regenerative braking works in hybrid cars. With every stride, the harvester’s on-board microprocessors analyze the wearer’s gait to determine precisely when to generate maximum power with the least amount of effort.
