This DIY home made waste oil furnace or foundry from recycled parts easily melts aluminum and will nearly melt copper. I believe melting copper could be achieved by simply adding a ceramic wool lid. This setup has been changed since, and is now using an old junked vacuum cleaner to feed the forced air as well as being variable speed using a dimmer switch. The dimmer helps a lot when initially lighting the furnace. It was fun to build and amazing fun to run.
