Biodiesel from corn or soybean is better than oil, but not so much better as a result of all the oil, fertilizers, and pesticides that go into the production of that corn. The use of artificial fertilizers particularly has been widely connected to the creation of dead zones in coastal areas. Biodiesel from algae appears as a great solution to the way we produce biodiesel today as it does not require so much space or artificially added components for growth... and the algae can be grown using the crappy water that we pollute!
