The Leduc Recreation Centre will be home to Canada's largest commercial rooftop solar array once installation is completed in July 2016. The system has 3,622 panels which can generate 1.14 megawatts of electricity. It covers just over 78,000 square feet - about four and half NHL rinks. It will offset up to 15% of the recreation centre's annual electricity consumption, reducing energy costs by up to $90,000 annually.
This project was made possible through ENMAX Energy's solar program with funding from CCEMC and installed by Great Canadian Solar.
