Magnetic Levitation with Induction

Aluminum and copper metals magnetically levitated using induction.

By running an high-frequency alternating current through the coil, a rapidly oscillating magnetic field is induced. This changing magnetic field induces eddy currents in the conductor. These eddy currents experience a force in the magnetic field due to the Lorentz force law. The resulting force can be used to levitate the conductor!
