After nearly 2 years in development, we're taking my 1999 Porsche Carrera 2 Cabriolet out for a long-range test drive! With only a handful of small things to tie-up, the car is ready for the road and we (Kirk Swaney from ShiftEV.com and I) are out to see how much road we can cover in this new EV conversion.
You can learn more about the build here: http://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/710545-going-electric-with-my-996-a.html
It was a beautiful day and we had a great time, although admittedly hard to not have fun with a car with TONS of torque.
The dash fuel gauge is programmed to display 80% of the state of charge, meaning when at 0, there is still about 20% remaining. The Parrot Asteroid Smart head-unit is showing OBDII data via bluetooth, which allows it to show a majority of the important information coming from the Orion BMS. The state of charge here is the "true" measurement, although you will see that our CALB 100AH cells give approximately 5-7% more than their rating.
I encourage questions and will do my best to respond!
