Tesla turbine disc turbine test run made with HDD parts

This Tesla turbine (or disc turbine) was made for a school project with a friend.

It's built using old hard disk hardware. The motor/spindel is used as a bearing and the discs have been modified for this purpose (escaping air). We tried different disc (differences in hole size, or form, like slots). The housing is machined from steel and the cover is a 3mm thick steel plate.

It will easily spin past 40.000 rpm, but I don't try that standing next to it. This is on 3 bars of compressed air, and as you can see, the air feed is not perfect now.
