Description

A supercapacitor is a device that can store energy. It can be rapidly charged and discharged making it different from a battery, which takes much longer to charge.

Due to graphene's unique material characteristics such as it's conductivity, it's high surface area, it's mechanical robustness and flexibility it's considered an ideal material to incorporate into supercapacitors.

There are a wide range of of possible applications for graphene supercapacitors, ranging from portable electronics, such as mobile phones, electric vehicles and even grid scale electricity distribution.

Narrated by Dr Mark Bisset.
